2012 has started out with a bang in the Berube household...and not in a good way. Here is a recap of our year to date. The middle of January brought a double ear infection, sinus infection and pink eye for Camden and bronchitis for Reya. Camden was on the last few days of his antibiotic and had an allergic reaction, a mild one but a reaction nonetheless. The beginning of February brought us a violent flu bug that started with mama then consumed Reya, Camden and eventually daddy. This bug was so ramped that everyone in our daycare got it and our provider was forced to close for a few days. The middle of February brought another double ear infection for Camden. A week later Reya was informally diagnosed with RSV, and had a hard time breathing at night and had a terrible cough and runny nose for 2 months. The beginning of March brought Camden another ear infection. The end of March (Reya's birthday party to be exact) brought Camden and I to the ER for another ear infection. The ear infection hadn't gone away by the beginning of April, and still hadn't gone away the end of April.:-( The beginning of May brought yet another flu bug into our house. This bug didn't hit Tyler or I very hard but it definitely hit the children hard. Which brings me to the present.day. Camden has his ear re-check on Tuesday so I hope it has cleared up by then, but the odds are not in our favor unfortunately. Well of course more sickness arrived at our house. Camden started feeling sick on the evening of the 12th and it continued into Sunday and Monday. I took him to the doctor on Monday. He was tested for strep and luckily it came back negative. Monday night and Tuesday morning Camden was throwing up :-( We had another doctor appointment on Tuesday for the ear re-check and his ears were "perfect" as Dr. C put it. We also decided to do an ultrasound on his kidney as well as a urinalysis and labs to check his renal function. Camden was a rock star! He was a pro at peeing in the cup and was amazing during the blood draw. We go for the ultrasound next Tuesday. I received a call that evening from Dr. C indicating that his labs came back great and his renal function was fine as well. His electrolytes were pretty low so if Camden continues to puke and only drink water he will have to be seen again and probably need IV fluids :-( So I have been trying my hardest to get him to drink Pedialyte or Gatorade with very little luck. He really dislikes the taste. I guess that is what I get for being a good mom and only letting him have milk and water :-/ Let's hope I don't have to edit this post again.
Even with all the illnesses that overtook our house so far this year; we have had made many great memories as well. Grandma Sam and Grandpa Doug have been down about once a month which has been wonderful for the kids and they have been an amazing help to us. We celebrated some wonderful birthdays with Reya turning one and Camden turning three. We spent our first of many weekends at the lake.
My hope for the remainder of 2012 is that the bugs are clearing out and I don't have to use my carpet shampooer again for a very long time.

Easter, Camden's 3rd Birthday and Outside Play
These top three photos are Easter at the lake. As you can see Camden thoroughly enjoying his cupcake dessert :-)
A very special photo of four generations before Camden's 3rd Birthday party began at the lake. This photo consists of my paternal grandmother, my dad, yours truly and my daughter.
I love this picture. Grandpa Doug was blowing up balloons and then Camden would let the air out and the balloon would fly all over the place. This photo was taken just as Camden let the air out, you can tell by the way Camden is ducking in delight!
Through all the chaos of the party, Reya was content to sit with grandma and take it all in.
Reya taking her turn in the bouncy castle.
Miss Reya finds the only dirt in our whole front yard and insists on playing in it.
